La Foresteria, Planeta

View from La Foresteria photographed by Andrew Butler

La Foresteria is Planeta’s new place dedicated to hospitality, cooking, wine and the land.

La Foresteria seems like a typical rural hamlet of houses placed on the hill and it’s immersed in the vineyards and olive groves which stretch to the beach of Porto Palo, the crystalline sea at Menfi in the province of Agrigento, a few kilometres from the well-known Planeta wineries and placed in the centre of a region extraordinarily rich with archaeological sites and natural reserves. La Foresteria is the perfect place for a “gourmet” holiday in the heart of ancient sun-kissed Sicily, where the relaxing pace of life, the flavours, traditions and Mediterranean aromas are all to be relished.

Parking (Sicilian Style)

Sicilian Parking photographed by Andrew Butler
A sunday market, the little Lancia had just been left, ‘parked.’ The coach was trying to get through the relatively narrow gap. There was a cacophony of horns from the cars behind.

It was fairly apparent that the coach driver could have got through the gap but I guess he would have ‘lost face’ if he had got stuck.

Time for parking Sicilian style. By the time the guys had finished the Lancia had been bounced into the two other parked cars, heavily and repeatedly.
